Current Status and Development Trend of Hydrogen Production Technology by Wind Power
The technology of generating hydrogen by wind power is an effective mean to improve the utilization of wind energy and alleviate the problem of wind power curtailment. This paper briefly introduces the basic principles and technical characteristics of wind power hydrogen production technology, reviews its development history, and details the research status in China and abroad. It summarizes the technical advantages and research results, elaborates on the wind power hydrogen production system, and discusses the application prospects. The key technologies and problems to be solved are comprehensively reviewed. The development of hydrogen production technology in wind power is analyzed from many aspects, providing references for future development. Wind power hydrogen production systems consist of wind turbine generators, electrolytic water devices, hydrogen storage devices, fuel cells, and power grids. By controlling the system to adjust the ratio of wind power fed into the grid to the electricity used for hydrogen production, curtailed wind power is maximally absorbed, alleviating the grid connection difficulty of large-scale wind power. The produced hydrogen can be used in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles or integrated into the gas supply network, achieving efficient utilization of renewable energy.
