CAN Communication Spec for EV DC Charger Modules
This document specifies the CAN-based communication between the power control module and charging module of off-board conductive DC chargers for electric vehicles. It covers physical layer requirements per ISO 11898-1 and SAE J1939-11 at 125 kbit/s, data link layer with address allocation (power control: 0xA0-0xAE, charging: 0x20-0x9E), and message structure including frames, identifiers, parameter groups (PG), PGN, SPN, and PDU. Key definitions include standard/extended frames, priority, transport protocol, and CP56time2a binary time. Operational rules mandate real-time monitoring, broadcast addressing for remote control, power-on response within 4 seconds, and communication timeout handling. The protocol uses CAN2.0B with low-byte-first transmission and supports fixed/dynamic grouping for charging modules.
