CCS Rules for Battery-Powered Ships 2025

The China Classification Society's Rules for Battery-Powered Ships 2025 is a comprehensive technical standard effective from January 1, 2026, covering design, construction, and survey of ships using batteries as primary or auxiliary power. It includes requirements for battery systems, power distribution, ship arrangement, monitoring, alarm, control, safety systems, fire protection, risk assessment, and automation. The 2025 edition upgrades the 2023 version and 2024 amendments, adding digital survey, shore-based monitoring platforms, containerized mobile power supply survey, automation system requirements, and online monitoring data exchange. It applies to all battery-powered ships and batteries for emergency, standby, starting, or auxiliary power. The rules aim to ensure navigation safety, adapt to technological advancements, and gain industry recognition. Key chapters cover general provisions, ship arrangement, battery boxes, battery rooms, and survey procedures including product, ship, digital, and occasional surveys.
