Code for Design of Compressed Air Energy Storage Power Station
This standard, DL/T 5895-2025, issued by the National Energy Administration of China, specifies the design code for compressed air energy storage (CAES) power stations. It covers 19 chapters including general provisions, terms, basic requirements, power system requirements, site selection, overall planning, main machine systems, heat storage and exchange, air storage systems, auxiliary processes, electrical equipment, instrumentation, control, information systems, buildings, fire protection, construction planning, environmental protection, and occupational safety. The code is proposed by the China Electricity Council and jointly drafted by PowerChina Hebei Electric Power Survey & Design Institute, China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, and others. It applies to the design of CAES power stations, ensuring technical consistency, safety, and efficiency. The standard was approved on June 30, 2025, and will be implemented on December 30, 2025, replacing no prior standard. It aims to guide engineers and stakeholders in developing reliable and sustainable compressed air energy storage projects.
